Marketer in Pink
Hi! I’m Jem. I build brands and create content about life, growth, and experiences that connect and inspire.
I’m a marketer by profession and a storyteller at heart. I spend my days building brands and shaping narratives across global markets, while my personal space is where I create content inspired by life, growth, and the experiences in between.
The Early Chapters
For as long as I can remember, marketing has been part of my story. My dad often jokes that I was “always meant for marketing or sales” after I apparently helped him make his first business sale at age three by telling my school principal about his gate business. Growing up, I resisted that idea. Like many people, I wanted to carve my own path and do something different from what my parents tell me I am good at. I first set my sights on accounting, hoping to follow in my older sister’s footsteps, but it did not unfold as I expected.
That unexpected turn led me to an e-business degree where I found myself at the intersection of business, marketing, and digital transformation. At the time, I was one of the few women in the program during a shift from traditional to digital marketing, before most businesses even had websites or social media (could you even believe a business without those two nowadays?). Looking back, the path I resisted was quietly becoming the one I was always meant to take.

Success is not just what you accomplish in your life; it is about what you inspire others to do.
What Shaped Me: Becoming Jem
My career began in Toronto, where I stepped into marketing with curiosity, drive, and a willingness to learn everything I could. I explored different industries early on, including telecommunications, education, and marketing agencies, until I found my space in hospitality and travel. It was an industry that combined storytelling, experience, and emotion in a way that felt right for me.
That is where I launched one of the first influencer programmes for a five-star hotel in Toronto, at a time when social media influencers were not yet the norm. I worked with local and international creators, collaborated with local publishers, and partnered with global networks including Forbes Travel Guide. It was also where I began to shape the foundation of my personal brand, Jem Castor.
That journey eventually opened a door I never expected: an opportunity to move to a small island, Grand Cayman, which I now call home. You can read more about that chapter here: How to Make Your Dream Job Happen.
Along the way, I also stayed close to learning and community, volunteering as a mentee through Humber Digital Business and continuing to grow through networking, mentorship, and conversations with people from all walks of life.

If not now, when?
How I Got Here: Building A Life That Feels Like Mine
As you know I now live in Grand Cayman, which I call home. Here, I balance my passion for marketing through my role in finance marketing, while continuing to build my personal brand through consistently inconsistently creating content on my Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn. My day job focuses on shaping brand narratives across global markets, while my personal content reflects the experiences and lessons that continue to shape me.
Outside of work, I continue to stay involved in mentoring and community programmes such as GirlForce100 with 100 Women in Finance and CareerMasters. I am also in a season of life where I am preparing to start a family, while continuing to create, share, and stay connected to the things I love.
I am not entirely sure what the future holds. I am not monetizing my content the way I once did in Toronto, but I know I want to keep creating. To me, everything I do is connected. Whether in marketing or in life, the most meaningful moments comes from intention, and human connection. This space is where it all comes together.

The possibility is endless. No matter what direction you go, just make sure it's yours.
